Dead Horse Ranch State Park is four miles, Tuzigoot five, and the Verde Canyon Railroad six. Red Rock State Park is sixteen and Bell Rock twenty, so the red rock hiking is entirely doable — you simply drive to it rather than walk out of the door.

The house suits groups that want to be together without being on top of each other. Five bedrooms across three and a half bathrooms means eleven people are not queueing, and the pool and hot tub carry the evenings. It is a base for a week rather than a stopover.
